this drill is a great drill to practice the path and rhythm of the arm movement in butterfly. dive in and start doing dolphin kicks, then with one arm in streamline do a one arm butterfly stoke, then the other arm, then both together. left arm, right arm, both. if you wish, you could do 1 left arm, 1 right arm and then 2 togethers if its too easy.

this drill is excellent for the kick, and for strengthening your abdominal muscles and practicing to not over bend at the knees. push off from then wall on your back with your arms in streamline, and do dolphin kicks while staying on your back. try to do 50 - 100 m repeats of this to make it properly effective - your core and legs should feel very tired after this!

this drill is a good drill to practice the arms in butterfly without worrying about the legs. it is also a good core challenge! to do this drill simply swim the butterfly using a freestyle leg kick. Try to keep your shoulders above the water when performing this drill - it makes it more effective
