this is a great drill to strengthen your arms and allows swimmers to "feel the water" it allows them to produce the maximum amount of force with their hands. this helps swimmers increase their distance per stroke. you do the drill by placing your hands and arms in front of you in the water, your body floating horizontally on the water. you then move your hands rapidly in a figure of 8 motion to move - no kicking allowed!

this is a very useful drill for many reasons; it allows the swimmer to work on the timing of their breath, a steady kick, good rotation and most importantly to extend your stroke in order to reach the other hand. this a very simple drill - swam like front crawl just you have to touch the other hand before it can pull down and stroke - one arm remains in streamline the whole time, switching every stoke after the hands briefly meet.

this drill is very useful for making sure your elbow remains High when you swim front crawl. you do this drill by swimming normal front crawl, but on every stroke you have to touch your shoulder, your head, then you can reach over and pull again. this teaches you to keep your elbow high when your swimming so you can have the right technique to swim faster!
